Fasted Marathon Project
A long-cycle field experiment: endurance training in a fully fasted metabolic state—tested under real travel constraints and documented with measurable data.
New here? Start with the Road Warrior Training System hub.”
What this project is
- The question: What happens when you train and race endurance while fasted—consistently?
- The constraints: frequent travel, normal workload, limited time, real life.
- The standard: measured reporting, no hype, transparent field notes.
The System
Three pillars I protect even during travel weeks.
Training
Base building, long runs, and controlled intensity—built to survive travel weeks.
Fueling
Fasted runs by default, intentional breaks, and simple rules that reduce decision fatigue.
Recovery
Sleep, stress management, and strength work to protect performance and lean mass.
Project Rules
These rules keep the experiment repeatable across countries and schedules.”
What counts as “fasted”
Fasted means no calories. Water and black coffee are fine. If I use anything else, I document it as a deviation so the week stays honest.
When I eat (timing principles)
I keep meals intentional: I eat when it supports recovery and training quality—not just because travel creates boredom or convenience.
Strength minimums (muscle retention)
Two short strength sessions per week is the minimum. Bodyweight is acceptable. The goal is durability and lean mass protection.
Travel-day default protocol
Hydrate early, walk on purpose, delay food decisions until settled. If I eat: protein-first, keep it simple.
Red flags (when I adjust)
If sleep quality drops, mood tanks, or training quality falls for multiple days, I adjust timing and volume. Consistency beats stubbornness.
Proof Library (field notes)
The receipts behind the project.
