2025-W32 — August Base Building

Home Weeks, Family Time, and Fasted Mileage

What happened this week

During the first three weeks of August 2025, I didn’t travel abroad. That alone made the month feel different. Instead of airports and hotels, I had something I don’t always get enough of: stable routines at home and more time with my family.

Training-wise, I kept building toward the Colmar Half Marathon. I continued doing my runs fasted and steadily increased my mileage. No dramatic breakthroughs—just consistent work, week after week.

The travel + wellness thread

It might sound strange, but “not traveling” can be its own kind of discipline. When life gets calm, you lose the external structure that sometimes forces simplicity. At home, the options multiply: snacks are close, schedules are softer, and it becomes easier to drift.

So I treated these weeks like a training block with one goal: build a base I could carry back into travel season. The priority wasn’t intensity. It was reliability.

What I learned

These weeks reminded me that boring consistency is powerful. When I stack simple fasted runs and steady mileage without making it complicated, fitness becomes something I can trust.

It also reminded me how important home time is—not just emotionally, but practically. More sleep, fewer logistics, more normal meals when I choose them, and better recovery. It’s the kind of invisible advantage that shows up later on race day.

Next week’s tiny focus

Pick one “boring win” and repeat it three times this week—same time, same route, same simple goal. Consistency beats creativity when you’re building a base.
